We are proud to introduce to the custom rodmaker, a premier series of nickel silver ferrules that will complement the finest handcrafted split bamboo fly rods. Appropriately named the SUPER SWISS, this ferrule system utilizes a time proven design that needs no introduction.
Traditionally preferred by knowledgeable fly fishermen and rodbuilders for decades the Swiss style of ferrule has superior strength, reliability and streamlined profile. Not only do the straight bores on both the male and female sections provide for identical rod shaft diameters and ease of fitting, but also the minimal removal of bamboo power fibres result in the maximum allowable rod section strength of the ferrule area.
All Super Swiss ferrule components are precision machined from the finest available 18% hard drawn nickel silver tubing, then carefully assembled and silver soldered to exacting standards. The painstaking polishing process combined with rigid inspection are the final steps towards creating an elegant set of fittings that will truly enhance the rodmakers ultimate effort.
Each ferrule set consists of one female section and one or two male slide sections. Male slides are fitted to the female section so as to provide only partial engagement. This allows the craftsman to preform the proper final fitting after the ferrules are attached to the rod sections. All ferrule caps are precisely serrated so as to conform to the customary hexagonal shape.
Super Swiss ferrule sets are available in both standard (2 piece rod) and truncated (3 piece rod) lengths, with inside diameters ranging from 8/64″ to 26/64″ inclusively, in increments of 1/64″. Inside diameters of both male and female caps are identical in 64’s.

The SUPER S.D. line of precision nickel silver ferrules has been designed and manufactured for rodmakers who prefer an alternative to the successful SUPER SWISS model.
Fashioned after the ferrule system used by such well known rodmakers as H.L.Leonard, E.F.Payne and F.E. Thomas, the SUPER S.D. will complement the finest handcrafted split bamboo rod with its traditional profil. In addition many individuals will find these ferrules particularly useful for restoration of older bamboo rods.
All SUPER S.D. ferrule components have been accurately machined from the finest available 18% hard drawn nickel silver tubing, Then carefully assembled and silver soldered to exacting specifications. All males and females have been fitted with moisture plugs for watertight integrity. Distinctive features include a concave radius on the forward end of the male sleeve and an attractive welt fitted to the female. The last steps in creating these high quality ferrules are meticulous polishing and final inspection.
Each ferrule set consists of one female section and one or two male sections. Males have been fitted to the female so as to provide only partial engagement. This allows for pinning, if so desired, and also the proper fit after the ferrule has been mounted on the rod section. All winding tapers have been precisely serrated so as to conform to the customary hexagonal shape.
SUPER S.D. ferrules sets are available in standard and truncated lengths with inside diameters ranging from 8/64″ to 28/64″ inclusively, in increments of 1/64″.
Sizes are taken from inside diameter of female.
